Created through the 2012 federal redistribution, Mississauga—Erin Mills occupies a roughly 34-square-kilometre swath of western Mississauga carved from the former riding of Mississauga—Erindale. The riding takes its name from the master-planned Erin Mills community, one of Canada's largest and most carefully designed suburban developments, and encompasses a mix of established residential subdivisions, commercial plazas, and parkland along the Credit River valley.

Iqra Khalid (Liberal) — Born in Pakistan and raised in Mississauga after her family immigrated to Canada in 1998, Khalid earned degrees in criminology and professional writing from York University before completing a Juris Doctor at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Prior to entering politics, she worked in the legal department of the City of Mississauga. She won the Liberal nomination in December 2014.
Bob Dechert (Conservative) — A corporate lawyer who had been a senior partner at Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, Dechert studied economics at McMaster University and law at the University of Toronto. He was instrumental in the merger that created the modern Conservative Party through his work with the "Blue Committee," formed in 1994. First elected in 2008 in the predecessor riding of Mississauga—Erindale, he served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice.
