MP interviews tomorrow

I’m off to Ottawa tomorrow to visit Parliament Hill and some people there. It’s also been a while since I’ve watched Question Period in person, so I think I’ll go watch the fireworks. I’m also going to do podcast interviews of MPs Monte Solberg and Andrew Scheer. A few factors have to come together first, as I’ve almost got a fairly decent quality microphone secured (we can’t have poor quality sound recordings after all). If it’s not a podcast, then it’ll be a text-based interview.

To my fellow Blogging Tories and to my other visitors: I want to integrate questions from our community. So, if you’ve got any questions for Monte or Andrew (or both), post them in the comments… I’ll ask the best ones.

CTV News just called

A reporter from CTV News called to ask questions about the Blogosphere and its interpretation of the Grewal affair.

The conversation went on for about half an hour and covered topics as diverse as Grewal at the airport to Grewal the carpet salesman to the unfair deconstruction of Gurmant Grewal by the MSM.

The link should be up this afternoon.

Here’s hoping that my quotes be true and in context… (my greatest fear with interviews)…

I should’ve taped it. (ha)

Pre-emptive taxation

You know that you live in a tax-mad nation when…

VICTORIA (PEI) – The owners of a restaurant and pub in Victoria by the Sea have been asked to pay the province $24,000 in anticipated sales tax before serving a single meal or pouring a pint.

It has Steven Hunter and Mike Storey feeling unfairly targeted by the provincial government. However, the government contends it is trying to protect taxpayers.

Hunter and Storey have used their own money to set up shop on the Victoria wharf. And they have been able to avoid taking out a loan to help start their business. Hunter can’t understand why government thinks he and his partner would run off with sales tax money.

The provincial government figures, based on projected sales, the PST for this summer will be $24,000. And it wants the money before any business takes place.
