Sturgeon River—Parkland was a newly created riding west and north of Edmonton, spanning roughly 4,000 square kilometres of aspen parkland and agricultural terrain. The riding was carved largely from the suburban portions of the former Edmonton—Spruce Grove constituency.

Before entering politics she worked as a communication and public policy consultant for the Alberta government. She entered the 2015 campaign as the sitting Health Minister.
Travis Dueck (Liberal) — Dueck carried the Liberal Party banner in a riding where the Conservatives had dominated for decades.

About the Riding
Sturgeon River—Parkland stretches from Edmonton's western outskirts to Lac Ste. Anne, taking in a mix of growing suburban centres, acreages, and farmland. Spruce Grove (population roughly 34,000) and Stony Plain (about 17,000) are among the Edmonton region's fastest-growing bedroom communities, driven by affordable housing relative to the capital. Morinville, Gibbons, and Redwater anchor the riding's northern reaches. The local economy blends agriculture — grain farming, cattle ranching, and mixed operations — with oil and gas services and construction trades serving the greater Edmonton market. The Sturgeon River winds through the constituency before joining the North Saskatchewan River. Federal issues in 2015 included infrastructure for rapidly expanding municipalities, energy sector policy, veterans' services, and agricultural trade agreements.
