About the Riding

Edmonton Griesbach is one of Edmonton's most economically diverse ridings, with a mix of working-class neighbourhoods, light industrial areas, and pockets of commercial activity along major corridors like 97 Street and 118 Avenue. Canadian Forces Base Edmonton, located in the riding's north end, is a major employer and gives the area a significant military community. The riding's linguistic diversity reflects successive waves of immigration, with notable Chinese, Ukrainian, Arabic, and Somali-speaking populations alongside the English-speaking majority. Key issues in 2015 included the economic downturn tied to falling oil prices, job losses in the energy sector, and concerns about support for veterans and military families.
