It covers parts of the regional county municipality of Le Haut-Richelieu, taking in communities such as Mont-Saint-Grégoire, Lacolle, Saint-Alexandre, and Saint-Paul-de-l'Île-aux-Noix.
Candidates
Jean Rioux (Liberal) — Born on June 9, 1953, in Trois-Rivières, Rioux was educated at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and the Université Laval. He had served on Iberville's municipal council from 1991 to 1995 and as mayor from 1995 to 2001 before winning election to the Quebec National Assembly as a Liberal in Iberville in 2003, serving one term. He taught history and economics at the secondary level at École Marcellin-Champagnat in Iberville.
Hans Marotte (NDP) — Marotte was a lawyer and unemployment advocate based in the region. He had authored the 1990 book Un Pays à Faire and was a longtime sovereigntist activist. During the campaign, his past writings drew scrutiny from opposing parties.

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is home to Garrison Saint-Jean, which houses the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School, the primary basic training facility for Canada's military, processing more than 7,000 recruits annually. The Royal Military College Saint-Jean also operates on the garrison grounds. The military presence is a significant economic driver, and defence policy carried particular weight in the riding following the October 2014 ramming attack in which Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was killed in a Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu parking lot — an event that shook the community and raised security concerns across the country.
