Edmonton-Beverly-Clareview is a provincial electoral district in Edmonton's northeast, encompassing the historic working-class community of Beverly, the suburban neighbourhood of Clareview, and adjacent areas including Abbottsfield, Belmont Park, Hermitage, and Bannerman. The riding straddles Yellowhead Trail, extending north toward 144 Avenue and east toward the city's boundary. Beverly, one of Edmonton's oldest communities, was an independent town until its amalgamation with Edmonton on December 30, 1961, and retains a distinct identity tied to its roots as a coal mining settlement. NDP MLA Deron Bilous had held the riding since 2012 and served in cabinet as Minister of Municipal Affairs and later Minister of Economic Development and Trade during the NDP government's term.

Local Issues
Edmonton-Beverly-Clareview's working-class character meant the economic downturn hit particularly hard. The riding includes a significant proportion of residents employed in trades, manufacturing, and transportation --- sectors that felt the ripple effects of Alberta's energy recession. Edmonton's labour market showed signs of recovery through 2017 and 2018, but the recovery was uneven, and older neighbourhoods like Beverly and Abbottsfield continued to face higher rates of poverty and economic precarity compared to the city average.
Poverty reduction was a significant local concern. Edmonton's northeast was identified as an area where low-income households were concentrated. Food bank usage remained high citywide, and housing need affected many families. Beverly-Clareview's older housing stock and lower median incomes placed it squarely within these challenges.
Infrastructure investment in the riding was a point of discussion, particularly transit improvements and community facility upgrades. The Beverly Business Revitalization Zone worked to attract investment and support local merchants along the 118th Avenue corridor. Bilous, as a cabinet minister in the NDP government, had been a visible advocate for economic diversification programs intended to benefit communities like his own, though critics questioned whether such programs had produced tangible results for northeast Edmonton residents.
