About the Riding
Richmond Centre's economy centres on retail trade, professional services, and the aviation and tourism sectors linked to Vancouver International Airport. YVR, located entirely within the riding on Sea Island, was one of the region's largest employment generators. The Canada Line rapid transit service connects the riding to downtown Vancouver and the airport in minutes. Major Asian-themed shopping centres, including Aberdeen Centre and Parker Place along No. 3 Road, make Richmond a regional retail destination. Housing affordability remained a significant concern, with detached home prices routinely exceeding the million-dollar mark and condominium prices rising steadily. The riding's geography — situated on a river delta averaging roughly one metre above sea level — makes flood protection and climate adaptation long-term infrastructure priorities, with the community relying on a network of dikes and pump stations.
