Dauphin—Swan River—Neepawa

Dauphin—Swan River—Neepawa covers a vast stretch of western Manitoba, from the town of Neepawa in the south through the Riding Mountain plateau to the Swan River Valley near the Saskatchewan border. Riding Mountain National Park, a nearly 3,000-square-kilometre preserve of mixed-grass prairie and boreal uplands atop the Manitoba Escarpment, occupies the riding's geographic centre. Agriculture anchors the economy, with farms producing grains, oilseeds, cattle, and honey across some of the province's most productive land.

Candidates

Dan Mazier (Conservative) — A grain and specialty crop farmer from near Justice, Manitoba. Mazier served as president of Keystone Agricultural Producers, the province's leading farm organization, from 2015 to 2018, after four years as vice-president. He held a diploma in agriculture from the University of Manitoba and had spent seventeen years in the fertilizer industry before returning to the family farm.

Laverne Lewycky (NDP) — A former NDP Member of Parliament who represented the Dauphin—Swan River riding from 1980 to 1984. An educator by profession, Lewycky held multiple university and college teaching positions across Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick over a career spanning several decades. He also worked as a communications consultant for federal government departments.

Cathy Scofield-Singh (Liberal) — The Liberal candidate for the riding, seeking to build support for the party in a constituency that has voted Conservative for decades.

Kate Storey (Green Party) — The Green Party candidate for the riding.

Frank Godon (People's Party) and Jenni Johnson (Christian Heritage Party) also sought election.

About the Riding

Dauphin, the riding's largest town at roughly 8,400 residents, serves as the commercial hub of the Parklands region and hosts the annual Countryfest music festival and the National Ukrainian Festival, reflecting the deep Ukrainian-Canadian heritage of the area. The Swan River Valley to the north was settled by Ukrainian and Polish homesteaders whose descendants still farm the region. Neepawa, known as the "Beautiful Plains" town, was the childhood home of novelist Margaret Laurence and sits amid productive cropland south of Riding Mountain.

The resort village of Wasagaming on Clear Lake draws summer visitors to Riding Mountain National Park, while Duck Mountain and Porcupine Hills provincial forests add wilderness recreation opportunities to the north. The riding's population has been aging as younger residents move to larger centres, making rural health care access, broadband connectivity, and grain transportation logistics persistent concerns. Conservative voting traditions run deep here, and the 2019 campaign saw a new Conservative nominee with deep agricultural industry credentials succeed the retiring incumbent.
