Calgary Nose Hill stretches across the city's north-central suburbs, taking its name from Nose Hill Park, a 1,129-hectare natural environment park that is one of the largest municipal parks in Canada. The riding was reconfigured through the 2012 redistribution from portions of the former Calgary—Nose Hill and Calgary Northeast ridings, and its communities range from established 1980s subdivisions to rapidly growing new developments along Calgary's northern edge.
Candidates
Michelle Rempel (Conservative) — First elected in 2011 in the predecessor riding of Calgary Centre-North, Rempel was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of the Environment before being elevated to Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification in 2013, making her the youngest female cabinet minister in Canadian history at the time. A graduate of the University of Manitoba with a degree in economics, she moved to Calgary in 2004 and was twice named a Maclean's "Rising Star" Parliamentarian of the Year.
Robert Prcic (Liberal) — Owner of GTR Auto, a custom car performance shop in Calgary, Prcic held a bachelor's degree from the University of Calgary in law and society. He had previously run as the provincial Liberal candidate in the 2014 Calgary-Foothills by-election.
Bruce Kaufman (NDP) — A Calgary middle and high school teacher since 1992, Kaufman held a bachelor's degree in education and physical education from the University of Calgary. He was active in the Alberta Teachers' Association, where he represented his school for 16 years, and volunteered with the Council of Canadians and Calgary Pride.

About the Riding
Nose Hill Park itself — a remnant of the native fescue grassland that once covered the region — dominates the riding's geography and provides panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains to the west and the Bow River valley below. Communities surrounding the park, including Panorama Hills, Hidden Valley, MacEwan Glen, and Country Hills, are primarily residential subdivisions developed from the 1980s onward, with Coventry Hills and Harvest Hills representing newer growth along the northern city limits. The area is served by several large shopping centres, including Country Hills Town Centre and Beddington Towne Centre, and is connected to downtown Calgary by the CTrain Red Line light-rail system. Many residents work in the energy and technology sectors, commuting south to downtown or to office parks along the Deerfoot Trail corridor. In 2015, local concerns included the impact of the oil-price downturn on employment, transit expansion to northern communities, and federal infrastructure investment.
