About the Riding

Honore-Mercier is one of Montreal's most culturally diverse ridings, with significant communities of Latin American, Haitian, and North African origin alongside longstanding francophone populations. The borough of Anjou is home to a major industrial park and commercial corridor along Boulevard des Galeries-d'Anjou, anchored by the Galeries d'Anjou shopping centre. Immigration settlement services, affordable housing, public transit expansion, and support for small businesses in multicultural commercial districts were key issues in the riding. The contest pitted two candidates with Latin American roots against each other, making it a closely watched race during a campaign dominated by the Liberal resurgence in Quebec.
