Bad move Christy Clark

Trading a sales tax cut for a corporate tax increase? This is bad tax policy from the Premier of BC. The HST has been a thorny and populist issue. The NDP is against it and when it was brought it many people saw it as a cynical move because former Premier Gordon Campbell brought it in just after the previous election. The Liberals are trying to neutralize it as an issue, but the move is a definite nod to the left of that coalition. The language Clark uses shows the bias of the decision against “big businesses”. A tax cut should be a welcome thing, however it is offset with a tax increase. Instead, it should be offset with a reduction in spending and strategic review of redundant and wasteful programs in the province.

Okay Mr. Ontarian Conservative Pundit who takes corporate ca$h and I have to note this due to the context of this debate…  who has a heckuva brain… who I have a lot of respect for…

    a) What spending would you cut?

    b) Are you aware of the fact the HST is up for referendum and the HST is going on an uphill fight?

    c) Are you aware in B.C. the BCLiberals have to be a centrist-conservative/Liberal-Conservative Coalition to keep the socialist BCNDP out of power?  Therefore for economic freedom & social freedom as well compromises have to be made.  I could write you a nice long paper if you’d like.

Thank you Stephen.  Thank you, I know this is a hard day for the conservatives in Canada, but the HST must win.  Oh and BTW: the corporate tax hike is temporary as well.

Look this move was what the NDP proposed. Adopting that as policy is comical. Why vote BC Liberal, a party that stands for NOTHING other than remaining in power? Forget it, I’m voting Rhino until they buzz off. Who cares if the NDP gets in? It’s not like the Liberals are any different, especially under Clark. Champagne socialist vs union one. Big difference.

I can’t believe Stockwell Day is supporting her.  She’s a federal liberal to boot.  Then again, it doesn’t help when the leader of the PC party decides to engage in gay bashing.  Can’t vote NDP, but both the other choices in BC make me want to stay home on E day.

I am voting no because I hate both the Liebrals and NDP.   They need to be taught a lesson.  There is no one to vote for next time, but to save my butt, I will probably have to vote Liebral to keep the NDP from stealing my savings.

At least you get half of it.  The BCLibs are a *coalition* party built around team play to STOP BCNDP.

And if you stay home, you could get BCNDP… :-(

BCLibs are making families come ahead in this reform.  It’s what people in HST consultations said they wanted.  BCLibs are ONLY credible anti-BCNDP/anti-socialist forces in BC.

Does it matter? They are the same party.

Again the BCNDP are just a different wing of the socialist party. There is no point in voting for either BCNDP or BC Liberal. The BC Liberal party is actually worse than the BCNDP because they stand for nothing but staying in power. Just like their federal cousins they are about to be destroyed.

No, the BCNDP threaten your civil liberties ( http://youtu.be/wKwKEq31ySg ), the BCNDP support decriminalizing marajuana and the BCNDP oppose tax cuts.  If you watch ( http://youtu.be/VpNBurymJik ), you’ll learn the BCNDP support a 12% GST + PST versus BCLibs who want a 10% HST.

It’s sad watching the Blogging Tories and the like defend corporations instead of communities which provide safe places for families.  Just sad.  We all have to compromise to stop the BCNDP.  In fact, Alise Mills explained very well what the BCLibs are all about: http://youtu.be/qi28udZUypY, “our main objective is to make sure the NDP doesn’t become government”.

Destroyed by whom?  The BC Conservatives?  Yeah and… money grows on trees while the gays are scary.

The BCLibs aren’t socialist, they’ve done a review of gov’t spending (Core Services Review), leased/sold BCRail, dramatically reformed BCFerries, defended civil liberties, got BC out of “have not” status, I could go on.  Kyle, you need to remember that the free enterprise coalition broke in the late 1980s when VanderZalm went too far to the right which gave birth to the BCLiberals.

I have been astonished and amazed through this whole HST fiasco in BC.  The NDP and  ex-social credit premier Bill Vander Zahm  have been against the HST.  Vander Zahm as a far right fiscal conservative makes sense..  If he is against the HST then why is the NDP against it?

I am all for getting rid of the HST (and the PST and GST) for that matter if it is accompanied with a 5% roll back of wages and benefits for the public sector workers and a 10% reduction in overall spending on public service wages and benefits.

I have accepted the HST as a tax grab to pay for the services that the people of BC demand.  If the HST is defeated and rolled back how will the NDP public service workers keep getting their raises and benefits???
