Candidates

Ziad Aboultaif (Conservative) -- Born in Lebanon in 1966, Aboultaif immigrated to Canada in 1990 and began working as a labourer before building a successful business over 12 years. He was first elected to Parliament in 2015 and has served as shadow minister for National Revenue, International Development, and Digital Government. In 2003, he made a partial liver donation to his son, an experience that inspired his advocacy for organ and tissue donation in Parliament.

Blair-Marie Coles (Liberal) -- A mother of two with an MBA from the University of Alberta specializing in public policy and management, Coles began her career as a probation officer before moving into strategic roles at Alberta Justice. She now works in health technology supporting public health, and campaigned on affordable child care, cost-of-living relief, and support for working families.

Lesley Thompson (NDP) -- A healthcare and labour advocate, Thompson was a member of the IBEW negotiation committee and previously worked at OMNI TV. She led a grassroots campaign that sent tens of thousands of letters to the Alberta government over a policy change affecting Type 1 diabetes patients, and served as co-chair of the Alberta NDP Environment Caucus.

Robert Bard (People's Party) -- Bard carried the People's Party banner, campaigning on reduced government intervention, fiscal restraint, and opposition to pandemic-era public health mandates.

About the Riding

Edmonton Manning is defined by the suburban growth that has reshaped Edmonton's northeast over the past two decades. Clareview, the riding's oldest major neighbourhood, was built in the 1970s and 1980s and sits at the terminus of the Capital Line LRT, providing transit connectivity to downtown. North and east of Clareview, successive waves of new housing developments have attracted young families, many of them immigrants from South Asia, the Philippines, East Africa, and the Middle East. The riding has some of the highest population growth rates in the city, placing pressure on schools, healthcare facilities, and recreational infrastructure.

The northeast is also home to a significant cluster of light industrial and logistics operations along the Manning Freeway corridor, providing employment in warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing. Agriculture remains important in the rural portions of the riding, with mixed farming operations on the urban-rural fringe.

Edmonton Manning has returned Conservative members in every election since its creation in 2015, though the riding's diverse and younger demographics have made it a target for both the Liberals and NDP. In 2025, affordability, healthcare access, and the economic uncertainty created by international trade tensions were the dominant issues on local doorsteps.
