About the Riding
Windsor--Tecumseh--Lakeshore sits at the heart of Canada's automotive manufacturing corridor, where the fortunes of residents are closely tied to the cross-border auto industry. The riding includes established Windsor neighbourhoods east of the downtown core as well as the more suburban communities of Tecumseh and Lakeshore, which have experienced steady residential growth.
The 2025 campaign was dominated by concerns over U.S. trade tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, which threatened the auto sector and the broader manufacturing economy that Windsor depends on. The region was identified as one of the Canadian communities most vulnerable to disruption from the escalating trade war. Healthcare access, affordability, and the economic potential of the new Gordie Howe International Bridge were also prominent issues.
The razor-thin result between Borrelli and Kusmierczyk led to a judicial recount, which ultimately confirmed Borrelli's victory by the slimmest of margins. The outcome reflected a broader Conservative sweep across Windsor-Essex, a historically working-class region where economic anxiety and a desire for change propelled the Conservatives to unprecedented gains.
