About the Riding

Beloeil—Chambly is a middle-class suburban riding where commuters head north to Montreal for work while enjoying a quieter residential lifestyle along the Richelieu. The town of Chambly, with its historic fort and canal, is a significant heritage and tourism destination. Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville adds a more upscale residential character, while Carignan retains agricultural roots.

As Bloc leader Blanchet's home riding, Beloeil—Chambly attracted outsized attention during the 2025 campaign. The Liberal surge under Mark Carney made this seat more competitive than in previous cycles, as Malouin's deep local roots and the national Liberal momentum put the Bloc's hold under pressure. Key local issues included housing affordability in a region where prices have risen sharply alongside the broader Montreal metropolitan market, commuter transit to Montreal, and the economic impact of US tariffs on Quebec's manufacturing and trade sectors. Environmental stewardship of the Richelieu River watershed and protection of remaining agricultural land from suburban sprawl also featured in the campaign.
