This is awkward…

Jane Taber writes,

Michael Ignatieff’s Liberals are offering up big prizes – tickets to Ottawa Senators games and even a $150 gift certificate to Hy’s Steakhouse – to round up volunteers to help them identify the Grit vote in upcoming by-elections.

But this odd pitch for help has some Liberals wondering where the Grit spirit has gone. Why do volunteers have to be cajoled?

How very awkward. Volunteer appreciation is one thing, but with Hy’s? A good Liberal lobbyist or lawyer dining at Hy’s can bill $150 in less time than it takes to finish the gorganzola filet mignon and double-baked potato.

Bad optics for a start. Now if this were the Dippers it would be a surprise but we’re talking about Liberals here.

There’s a lot about the concept of “getting it” or “clued in” which seems to be missing from the LPC these days. It could be what happens what happens when desperation leads to grasping at straws.

Ahhh…. the “Merchants of Death.” Nice visual touch.

I got my picture taken with Peter Mackay the other day. Does that count as a bribe?

As others have a lready pointed out, these “prizes are available in Ottawa. The by-elections are not.

It would NEVER occur to a Liberal to offer a donation to a volunteers favorite charity, a a reward.
Nope, go straight tothe Liberal pocket.

Liberals conclude that their supporters do not come from the low or middle income class,
but of the variety that can afford the trip and have the wardrobe needed to go to Hy’s.

I’m finding this whole ‘bribe’ thing, very distastful but then, I’m not a Liberal.

Speaking of bribes and Liberals, zero a lens in on Dalton McGuinty who bribes us with our own money.

Hell he even hikes hydro rates over the moon, 46% over five years then says he’ll give us a 10% rebate. That hike will really hurt a lot of people, even those who are able to abide by the cheaper consumption hours a la so-called “smart” meter rules.

Ontario might become the darkest province in the country. Windmills and solar panel technology are not cheap, nothing called “green” is cheap and Dalton is wild for “green” to the point of ruining the landscapes with freaking wind turbines and fields of fenced in solar panels. Is it any wonder people capable of reasoned thought are starting to see red when the word green is mentioned?
