Police called in regarding suspected voter suppression in PC leadership race

The following was received by “unambiguously ethnic” (as PH puts) PC Party of Ontario members in a Toronto area riding. It reeks of voter suppression. (h/t Perez)

Frank Klees’ campaign has focused upon signing up new Canadians and bringing increased diversity to the PC Party of Ontario. His campaign believes that his campaign was the target of this “dirty trick” type of politicking.

I’ve received the following letter from a source close to the Klees campaign. The letter is from party president Ken Zeise. It informs the Klees campaign that the police are now investigating the matter.

    The Opiniator's comment is interesting. I agree with the others who suggest that this is more a Liberal tactic than a conservative one.

    I truly hope they get to the bottom of this.

    It's not going to stop me in the least from supporting my candidate.

    I do not believe the liberals are responsible, they clearly have enough problems to deal with (eHealth anyone?). It is the act of a desperate campaign and it's disgusting.
    It is appalling. The campaign responsible knows who they are and it's only a matter of time before everyone else does too.

    Outsider, The Liberals need desperately a diversion. The Whole Liberal Party is crocked from top to bottom. I don't feel sorry for the people in Ontario. They have only themselves to blames for the sh-house in Toronto. I wonder if they will wake up when all the taxes go through the roof next year.Not to mention the mess in Caledonia
    This whole affair smaks too much of Liberal infiltration.

    There is another thing. How come we hear so little about it in Ottawa. One would think the Liberal Media would fall all over themselves to blast the Conservaties. Am I the only one who sees very little of it?

    The weakness of the liberals is that they can't conduct any covert operations and keep their mouth shut.

    It is common knowledge at the Park that the liberals have infiltrated this leadership race from day one.

    This can't be PC's behaving this way. Are we being infiltrated by moles or are we dealing with mad lust for power within? It's not a big prize, it's a rebuilding process. loads of grunt work and miles to go before the next election.

    Beginning to think we do need a straight shooter like Hillier but we keep hearing he doesn't stand a chance, he offends the sensibilities of Toronto elite and therefore could never win in this province. Are we PC's or are we chameleons, changing with the locale, all things to all people like the Liberals?

    There is strong evidence linking this to one of the campaigns. The campaign who did it knows that the evidence is there.

    I hope that the Police will be able to get to the bottom of this. I look forward to seeing who took part in this desperate scheme and what campaign they were associated with.

    I am anxiously awaiting the results of this investigation.

    Interesting. This is clearly disgusting, and definitely makes my stomach churn.

    But someone went to considerable effort to construct a notice that is factually accurate in every respect, but uses warped context and innuendo to convey a different meaning.

    If you're going to be this dirty, why not just make everything up? Unless someone is preparing a defense to avoid prosecution.

    Well, well I see the Tories are up to dirty tricks.

    I guess they learned nothing from 2001-2003 when they tried them... and gave Ontario Dalton McGuinty and David Caplan because Sandra Pupatello took 'em on her shoulders as she pounded/pup-ed her way to victory.

    Gosh, WHEN will you guys learn to just play it clean?!?

    In fact, to be quite frank with you, one man for 13 years has been a political superstar because he's everybody's favorite 2nd choice & totally unthreatening as a person: Dalton McGuinty. I wish and hope the Ontario PCs have such a 2nd choice kind-of-a-bloke. Randy Hillier?
