Brockback conservatives…

Here’s the controversial propaganda being handed out by the Young Liberals.

Are the Young Liberals insulting gays and lesbians by using homosexuality as an implied insult?

Here’s Macleans take:

Liberals love to brag about how open they are toward homosexuals.

Tough to explain, then, the printed gay joke some are handing out at the expense of George W. Bush and Stephen Harper.

Riffing on a poster promoting “Brokeback Mountain,” a movie about two cowboys who fall in love, the small sticker shows the U.S. president and Canadian prime minister striking lovelorn poses in cowboy hats.

Under the title “Brokeback Conservatism,” the sticker describes “a story about two friends who share ideas, ideologies and long walks on the beach.”

Best.convention.swag.evar

Friday morning blogging the convention after a couple of great hospitality suites last night. Ignatieff had the big party at the Intercontinental, ironically where Ezra Levant had his Western Standard Party just two years ago at the CPC policy convention.

Activists at the Ignatieff hospitality suite were handing out buttons to delegates and they’re already a hit. I’ve heard that these edgy buttons even have asking prices.

I’ve collected them all!

Anne McLellan interview

Yesterday, I bumped into Anne McLellan at the Liberal leadership convention. I sat down with the former deputy Prime Minister to ask her about the convention, Maher Arar and the Alberta PC leadership race.

Ted Morton supporters will want to watch the video the full way through. Fans of the professor will be cheering by the end.

Blogging from the lion’s den

I’m here! Right now I’m sitting in the media pit at the Palais de Congrès in Montreal. After a bumpy registration process, I received full media tags and proceeded directly to find restricted places to try and get into. This media pass works wonders.

James Travers is filing a report a few desks over, Jane Taber arrived and Gloria Galloway and I caught a momentary glance across the room.

Also, great news! Mike Duffy will make his triumphant return to MDL at the convention.

The buzz in the hall and among my media colleagues (now, I’m milking it) is Howard Dean’s address to delegates tonight. Who would have thought that an NRA-endorsed anti-SSM american would be so well received among Liberals?

BYAAA!
