I said that on Twitter March 23rd.

Every Liberal on that list who is running for re-election needs to rescind that document before May 2.

  • Trusty Tory

Exactly. Now today he comes out in true liberal form lying about the fact he would NOT enter a formal coalition. He’s about as trustworthy as a fox in the henhouse.

Why doesn’t he just say something like “A coalition if necessary but not necessarily a coalition”. What everyone seems to forget is that Harper has ruled as a minority leader for years now…. first past the post gets a chance and can be defeated at any time… like the status quo.

Lets just all calm down and follow the convention that the party that has the most votes is the first that gets a chance to govern.

Personally I’m surprised that the coalition didn’t try to form government before this election.

  • Switchyard O’Taylor

Personally I’m waiting to see his REAL birth certificate, only then will I be satisfied.

    Oh wait, wrong meeting.

That wouldn’t have worked, they’re out to dump Ignatieff who they recruited and crowned, the only way they can do it is to trigger an election, risk our economy, make us all pay for their leadership deficit.

If we don’t drum the Liberals down well and good this time aroound we have a deficit of brain power among the electorate.

The good thing about this document is that it shows that the coalition doesn’t give any power to the Bloc Quebecois.

Michael Ignatieffs coalition government is here to open the door to foran interests for our resources . the US thinks that Canada is their back door. The Opposition Partys want the Directer Richard Fadden to Quit when he said that Canada has some foran threats inside this country when interviewed on CBC news with Peter Mansbridge . What is Iggy form the US here for ?

That’s much too reasonable to fly here. Besides, the CPC desperately needs the coalition fiction as something to get hand-wavy about, to divert attention from their , um, recent troubles.

Personally I’m surprised that the coalition didn’t try to form government before this election.

The coalition was a one-time construct designed to whap Harper upside the head for his dereliction of duty in late Nov 2008. It isn’t, and was never an opposition “plan B” , despite the rabid assertions made in the blue blogosphere.

But the CPC needs this windmill to tilt at.

  • Switchyard O’Taylor

My problem with your assertation that the coalition was a one time only thing, is that the document itself is valid far beyond any reasonable “one-time construct”.

You’ll always see the best intentions in the party or politician you side with. It’ll be easy to ignore their faults because they have the right intention, or are the best of the worst… For most people here, that means forgetting about the tax on income trusts and forgetting that the Conservative leadership is acting liberalish.

A fair criticism. It would clear the air a bit if the signers would simply agree to declare it dispensed with.

However, having come on so strong with it, Harper now has to publicly wear his own collusion with Layton and Duceppe from 2004.

  • Switchyard O’Taylor

Oh, I totally agree, I was still at little smitten about Belinda at the time, so I have no Harper Love from then.

Wow did I ever pick the wrong horse.

What is Iggy form the US here for

To bring spell-checkers to the needy.

  • P51mustang

No need to bring spell checkers to the needy. I was multitasking when I sent it and did not ckeck . I am an Aircraft Structural Engineer and know how to spell thank you .

I guess it’s too obvious to point out to all of you that the central tenets of the agreement have not been fulfilled? Namely, section 2 “The Prime Minister will be the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada”, “The Minister of Finance will be appointed from the Liberal caucus”, etc. This agreement has never been acted on, and the Liberals and NDP have voted in contrary ways on many issues since it has passed.

Just a thought: since you are all so busy rewriting history, why don’t you just go ahead and claim that Iggy has actually been PM for the last couple years? Wouldn’t it be convenient to blame him for our huge deficit?
