Stephen Harper congratulates David Cameron

Just received:

‎A few short moments ago, Prime Minister Harper spoke with the new British Prime Minister, David Cameron.

Prime Minister Harper warmly congratulated PM Cameron on his electoral victory and appointment as prime minister by Her Majesty the Queen.

Prime Minster Harper told Prime Minister Cameron that “we will see each other in Muskoka and Toronto at the upcoming G-8 and G-20 Summits. The relationship between our two countries means a lot and I look forward to working with you in the years to come. Give my best to your wife Samantha, Laureen and I look forward to meeting her. Once again Prime Minister congratulations and my best wishes.”

Note: Prime Minister Harper has previously met Prime Minister Cameron while he was leader of the opposition.

Congratulations to Cameron. A lot of long faces in MSM, though. Saw a lot of glee at the prospects of a Labour/Lib-Dem coalition in the past few days. The hopes of MSM was to have that occur in the UK so they could say to Canadians, “See, not so bad” and try and sell it to us after the next election, if Harper doesn't get a majority, which, if most opinion polls are accurate, looks to be the case.

What's misleading about that is that the UK would have a stable gov't for at least the next year, regardless of its composition. No one would dare trigger an election before that. And considering that we're going to have a Canadian election in the fall at the latest — possibly by late June even –to have pointed to a Labour/Lib Dem coalition as working well, as the MSM would have, would have been misleading considering, as stated above, that it would have to be because no one would want to be responsible for forcing Britons back to the polls so soon.

That said, now that Briton's will have a Conservative PM, don't look for MSM to play up any successes it may have — ironically playing up that it's too early to judge and that over time it will fail.

I read yesterday that Kinella left Ignatieff's war room.

OT, but did you catch the PI explaining it was all a joke on his facebook page re Jack.

  • Liz J

Is Kinsella leaping from one dead horse to another? Perhaps he feels unwelcome, not getting enough attention from the federal bunker and is again going to concentrate his talents on Dalton who will be needing a single major issue to keep him in power.

  • Mary T

But, how long will it last, as there are already signs of a backlash within some of Camerons mps.
But our media is bending over backward to try and sell a coalition would be ok with cdns re lib/ndp.

OT but a big surprise in the G&M, CBC clears Graves. Guess that tells us how their investigation of bias will turn out. Why waste the time and money.

    Hahhhhahhhahahhahahahahahhhaha

The Conservatives claimed “total vindication” at the time, while Elections Canada sought leave to appeal.

OT … Stephen ….take a gander at this CBC article.. it’s a shocker because it has the Liberals attacking the NDP for supporting the Gun Registry together with the CPC.

The images of Layton and Mulcair look like Hitler and Marx .. and this is the Liberals slagging their old coalition partners!!! (.. and Stephen just looks sweet!!!)

Liberals are accusing the NDP of being gun-totting criminals backing the use of AK47 assault rifles and .45 S&W personal sidearms in Canada ..!!!

If heads (Donolo, Iggy??) don’t roll over these horrendous Kinsella-style goebbellian attack ads, a coalition will never happen!!!

    Shocking:::

Yeah, yeah, Stephen, we know that Prime Minister Stephen Harper — may he govern for many years to come — has congratulated British PM David Cameron, but now can we move on?

    What else?

    Where are you?

  • kenn2

Oh, we'll all move on soon enough, next election.

Hey even Stephen gets to take a vacation. Or… maybe he got a job offer… the CPC is gonna need all the political talent they can lay their hands on to counter all the gaffes of this current government.
