But it's of course the right's tradition (and Harper's in particular) to attack the messenger whenever they dislike the message.

The only grounds for attacking Graves is if his company's polling and analysis are inaccurate or otherwise flawed. If EKOS data is good enough to be cited by the National Post, why not for the CBC as well?

So only those Canadians who donate to the CPC are proud patriotic Canadians. What Graves was saying to the Liberals is essentially it might be worth their while to embark on a culture war like the Harper Reform party has been doing for the past decade (and which they learned from the Republicans). Dumb idea, but that's why it's best if these guys stick to the numbers.

Well then why stop at donations? Maybe we should demand all polling companies employ non-partisan, non-voting people to do their analysis.

I happen to know the Bricker family are strong conservative supporters. Darrell's identical twin brother Cal used to live and work in Edmonton, where he spent much of his time schmoozing with various conservative MLA's and Reform/Alliance/Conservative MP's. Does that necessarily mean any poll from Ipsos Reid is completely biased?

Alan Gregg once worked for Brian Mulroney, so throw his analysis out the window too.

Or, you might take the time to review Graves' analysis, based on his objective numbers and methodology, and point out where bias creeps in.

But we both know you will not do that, because that is not the point of this little exercise. Conservatives know this is not a matter of bias – it is a matter of using this to raise money and incite the base.
