You know, I still can't stop thinking about the LPC being granted another 2 years to pay off the debt to Elections Canada. When Chretien was in power, the LPC ran year after year of surprise (albeit false) surpluses and was lauded for it. When I think about it, those surpluses did not affect my own life one iota. Now, the LPC is screeching about the alleged deficit that PM Harper is running. However, the LPC itself is in a deficit position and has been granted a 2-year extension to get itself out of its deficit. So, if the LPC has an extension, perhaps Ignatieff and his sheep should drop the rhetoric about our alleged deficit until the LPC can get itself into a surplus position. Furthermore, how can any intelligent Canadian vote Liberal if the party cannot even manage its own finances, let alone the finances of the country. Well, we all know that the definition of hypocrisy is LPC so it's not surprising, is it? I also read yet another story yesterday in which Ignatieff once again "warned" the PM about something. Is it any wonder that our PM ignores the paper tiger undemocratically appointed American leader of the LPC?

The debt by former leadership candidates cannot be paid for by the party and they are trying to raise the money w/o hurting the party's finances. I see that as being very responsible as opposed to a $60BB deficit by the turkeys you love to support.

I hardly see a connection. Cullen didn't even utter the word 'oriental.' And the second quote?? What's the big deal?

You don't validate a racist question by answering it and by using "them" when the subject is "orientals".

I didn't see racism, I saw a question containing a word pun, and an awkward response. But I'm not of Asian descent, so I will defer to the judgment of those who are.

Regarding the second... I doubt that that recording will ever be relied upon as the definitive answer as to who Cullen thinks deported Arar (except here, of course).

If your point is that there wasn't even a momentary pile-on from the media... well, ok maybe... but I think most people can discern why the Randy White interview mattered, and this one doesn't.

Most puzzling is why you'd even bring this up. It seems the best that the right can come up with is a series of "they did it too" attacks against the opposition, which is hardly flattering to the CPC. Harper would be alot more formidible, and much more popular right now, if he simply did what he said he'd do, instead of out-Liberaling the Liberals.

There's nothing racist about the word oriental. Oriental means pertaining to the East and Occidental means pertaining to the West. It's simply a matter of knowing the English language.

I read this as soon as it was posted and recognised immediately the point Stephen was making and the double standard it was suggesting but chose not to comment. As Conservatives, we are faced with the contradictions that many defend here.

let me respond to some of the errors in the response.

1. Nathan Cullen is an MP, not an MPP.
2. Trix, although made by nestle, is not a chocolate cereal - it's a fruity part of a complete breakfast.

It's not so much the apples and oranges of content that is being compared here, it's the regrettable things said on amateur video that is the point for comparison here.

One guy's name was Randy, the other Nathan. I wouldn't obsess over that difference though.

Let's talk about why Nathan Cullen believes that the RCMP deported Arar to Syria to be tortured and why he thinks a bowl of chocolate cereal will make up for his ordeal.
