He's not flashy or charismatic but his directness and earnestness suggest that he's serious about politics and the public good, which isn't something that can be said for a lot of politicians.

I wish I could comment at greater length on Alberta's politics specifically, but being an easterner I don't know enough about Alberta to contribute very much. What I do know, however, is that I like Albertans' spirit of can-do and the sense that they prefer to do for themselves rather than ask for federal handouts. The Big Sky out there seems to breed the live-free-or-die types. I like that!
