I joined the PCs temporarily, just to vote for Ted Morton in the leadership race. But now I'm a member of the Wildrose-Alliance.

IMHO, the biggest mistake the PCs made is that they took their base for granted. For me, it really hit home when Ralph Klein dismissed the points made by Harper, Morton, et al in the so-called “firewall” letter. “Populist” Ralph's explanation was that he didn't see any indication that the people of Alberta wanted to do any of those things. Well, Ralph, sometimes you gotta LEAD.

At their annual general meeting of a few years ago, there was a motion to reduce the number of MLAs in the province, as 83 is way too high. Shot down. And another motion to drop the word “Progressive” from the name of the Party. Shot down.

And the latest example of the PCs tin ear, is how they are going to fight Flaherty's push to get a national securities regulator, by going to court with Quebec. Well thanks Ed, for being so small-minded. Not to mention, joining the anti-Harper universe, which is already over-crowded.

For me, the PCs are waaaaaaaaay past the point of no return.
