Third Quarter Party financial statements out today
| Conservative Party | Liberal Party | New Democratic Party | Green Party | Bloc Quebecois | |
| Q1 | $4,362,596 | $1,857,728 | $595,611 | $215,967 | $133,586 |
| Q2 | $3,957,662 | $4,053,568 | $711,269 | $194,090 | $198,858 |
| Q3 | $4,554,787 | $2,010,823 | $1,078,376 | $265,507 | $249,477 |
| Total | $12,875,044 | $7,922,119 | $2,385,256 | $675,564 | $581,921 |

For all of the Liberal crowing last quarter over their 2Q results (largely buoyed by a “leadership” convention where Michael Ignatieff was coronated leader) and their 1Q->2Q plus/minus, their 2Q->3Q plus/minus is that story in reverse. However, realistically this quarter’s results shows the real strength of each party’s fundraising machine.
Interestingly, the Greens are outraising the Bloc Quebecois. The Greens may argue that this is another example of why we need proportional representation, however, I’d argue that this represents Canadians that believe in something, rather than believing against another (see what I mean in this article).
The NDP is raising half of what the Liberals are raising showing that for their relative size, their numbers aren’t surprising. Further, it shows that the NDP base is still healthy enough for their smaller party. For the Liberals, their numbers are also relative to their seat count (when compared to CPC numbers) in the House of Commons. However, this may be bad news for the Liberals as they’d like everyone to believe that their seat count is rather a result of a unpopular leader in the last election rather than current Canadian (and Liberal member) attitudes about this party.
Despite the economic crisis, the numbers are still relatively healthy. My friends in the fundraising sector would suggest that if corporate donations were still legal, we’d see party fundraising take a hit this year. However, although Canada went through some tough economic times this year, personal donations are still relatively strong in all charitable sectors.

Hasn't great success at fund raising been the big brag of the Iggy Libs for some time now?
Anyone notice how peckish Warren K is looking these days? Looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

I'm just trying to figure out how many lefties are going to try to sue you for slander because of this blog post.

Rossi may take credit for growing the total amount but in fundraising it is very important to keep the amount per contributor growing.
(Share of PIE)
In the average contribution from Dion vs MI the <$ 200 category suffers a 30% drop. The =>$ 200 suffers a 9% in avg contributions.
Dion $ 10.46, $ 65.64, $ 118.58 in the three groups vs MI $ 7.85, $49.97, $109.17
I am going crunch those numbers again for I post them.

I know our support is registered in those numbers but we have changed the way that we donate because of the economic downturn. It would be interesting to know the circumstances of the support, although I would suggest that the Liberal Q2 is indeed, euphoria and has dropped off significantly, since.
The last Q will be another telling story, imo.
Thanks Stephen.

It is obvious there are a couple of couch-potato parties out there and couldn't go it on their own. I personally hope there is a surprise in the spring budget.

Are the quarterly payments for the 1.95/vote included in these figures. If they are could they be taken out of the total figures of money raised by supporters.

that isn't true. Look at the red bars from Q2->Q3

hear, hear!

in fact the Libs are the only party NOT to increase their funding in Q3

So, how does the Bloc keep going? Subsidies to Quebec?
What utter nonsense, perhaps crap and corruption?, that a party intent on the breakup of Canada, with apparently next to no fundraising capacity is permitted to vote on national initiatives while the ROC is shut out of whether or not this party is elected.
'Deranged Dominion all right.
OTOH, looks like the CPC has across-the-board, grassroots support and that the best party is governing. As per usual the LPC seems to be in big trouble, something their backroom boys and PR potentates seem loath to admit. Hey, guys, just look at the financial statements. 'Seems pretty clear to the rest of us.
What's Peter Donolo, lately a non-partisan (sic) commentator on CTV and other political panels, going to do to turn this around? He's not in Jean-Jean-Land anymore.

They can't. The party does not have access to the public purse.
November 1st, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Good question. My guess would be that they have not yet so done.

I find it ironic that the legislation which curtails corporate contributions is now biting the same party in the butt. The numbers, IMHO, indicate that our party has the support of actual Canadian people instead of string-pulling nameless, faceless corporations. Our PM may lack the ability to lie and spin but he sure does get the real work done. God Bless PM Harper.

Yeah, he's getting the work done for sure and it appears the Canadian people realize it.
To quote Kipling, “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs……”, he's certainly managing that very well. The Liberals and their media shills are really doing just that. We saw an example of that on CTV's QP today. What an amateur effort, their looking more pathetic by the hour.
It's all about Liberals all the time and what they need to do to gain power.

That should read….”the Liberals and their media shill are doing just that, losing their heads….”
