More cracks in the coalition?

OTTAWA — Frank Valeriote does not favour a coalition government and instead hopes Prime Minister Stephen Harper can work toward rescuing the Canadian economy.

“I believe in working toward a solution, not working toward a coalition,” Guelph’s Liberal MP said Wednesday.

Valeriote added he does not believe a Liberal-NDP coalition, with support from the Bloc Quebecois, will unseat the Tories.

“I have given no thought to that,” Valeriote said when asked whether he saw himself in a cabinet role under such an arrangement. “I am not, frankly, anticipating moving into government.”

Kinsella also now seems to be against it.

A facebook group for Liberals against the coalition has popped up too: “We voted for you Stephane, but not for this.”

Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I think we'll soon see some Blue Liberals either sit as independents or cross the floor to the Conservatives.

I'm thinking the same. Does Dion still have enough power to whip the entire caucus to voting for this charade?
    I wouldn't think so.

The PM has been with the Governor General 15 minutes. I hope he comes out and says we are going ahead with the confidence vote on Monday and after that I will ask the GG to dissolve if we lose. I think Prorogatoin will buy time but only prolong the ineviteable. The sooner the coalition of goons takes over the sooner it fails.

Forcing them to vote confidence puts a lot of liberals squirming and they have to make a choice. I think at least 12 of them will have a sudden flu. If only 12 off them watched Dion last night it will be enough.

Scratch that… apparently he's contacted the paper and claims that his comments have been miscronstrude… still developing… http://guelphmercury.blogs.com/guelphvotes/2008

Rumours are flying. It's been reported all Liberals signed on to support the coup, who has the truth?

Our Prime Minister was a class act after his meeting with the GG. He's asking the parties work with them, offer their suggestions, so the ball is in their court. They can work for the interests of the country or their own ambitions for power.
If they decide to send it to the people it will not bode well for the Liberals or the Dippers. The anger at this attempt at a take down of the government in one of our most crucial times is historic and growing.
