Great post but as all things evolve - Carlton University is not running neck to neck with Queen's for the "Darwin Award".

Cystic Fibrosis is a WHITE MAN's DISEASE thus in order to show the ethnic and cultural diversity of Carlton - "Shinerama" ffund raising or the CFS will no longer occur.

Guss no one checked with the CFS about who it affects. Heaven save Canadian society/us from these potential university graduates. They may all now qualify for work with the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

Yet another column on this radical idea at Queen's in today's Ottawa Citizen by Robert Sibley: "Beware of Secret Police on Campus".

It's a tragedy in the making for any University in a democracy . It's flirting with the radical Leftist doctrine in the guise of social justice.

Sibley quotes Leon Craig, a political philosopher at the University of Alberta "It's an outrageous idea. That any faculty member would go along with this idea just shows you the extent to which our universities have decayed".
Pretty sobering words. Has Queen's started to decay? Are they going to tolerate this? Going along with something is one thing but being the instigator is quite another. He should be fired, alumni should demand it and withhold donations until he is.

This should be considered serious business and it's gaining the attention it deserves in the press and TV media.

Once again, Queen's makes a point of going too far in the race to be the most "progressive" university. These monitors will be the school's own version of Canada's Human Rights Tribunal and the farce that has followed its inception.

Agree with you Jon. They do have to be called on it and made an example of though.

Top Editorial in National Post today on it, "Thought Control at Queen's" so it's not going away as a one day story.

I'm always in awe as to the self-importance of those in the education system at all levels in Canada and how often they take the liberty of imposing their own will and values on the student population. In leftist Toronto students are taught at an early age to source only from repulable newspapers like the Toronto Star and ignore those silly papers like the Post and the Sun.

The administration at Queen's University , Wilfrid Laurier and York University seem to have all taken these principles to new heights in recent years, however.

In my view this is fine if a privately funded and run organization of like minded, all knowing academic types wishes to make decisions and impose their will on the student population (who obliges).

But, if they do this in a publicly funded school, they should have their funding pulled.

Mark,

Please do not deprive your son of the best undergraduate experience in Canada. Queen's made the mistake of talking about their thought censorship, but you would have to be naive to believe that it wasn't happening before. Universities have long been a place for the blunt application of ideology by fascism. In the early 90s one could be expelled for making jokes about the outrageous 2nd wave feminism of the Women's Studies department.

If your son is intelligent enough to get into Queen's he will be intelligent enough to see through the PC Stasi.
