The only thing amazing about Stephen Harper is how slippery he is. The Canadian people have become way to compacent and disconnected to the not-so-hidden agenda of the neo-conservative idiology that is being allowed to take hold in this country. WAKE UP CANADA!!!!!

I'm not impressed with S.Harper's early 2nd term decision to freeze transfers to provinces. Right now this is minor but will snowball as healthcare expenses rise and corporate taxes fall in a few years. A better strategy would've been to freeze corporate tax cuts. The easiest way to cushion Canada from US contraction is to promote employment. Public Provincial education and health care (higher earning and growing fields, respectively) spending is much more employee efficient than is financial services and oil.
Though only D.Williams endorsed ABC, so every other province deserves the inevitable earlier death (by a few days probably) of their seniors a provnical transfer freeze will result in if carried on indefinitely.
An anologous policy I found while studying policy this past election, I'm not sure which party initiated this, is that transfers to Indian Reserves are capped at 2% annually. This is absurd given the young demographics of Natives. If anything you want to floor the transfers above the Canadian average, to ensure a lower crime rate, more technical college graduates, healthier children, etc. Demographics are not being grasped by Conservatives. Banks and oil won't ensure the dignity of Canada's seniors nor the education of aboriginals.

Congratulations to PM Harper - however, please take care not to lose your base - the average Canadian who plugs away day in and day out, who isn't a special interest group.. and who, btw, would prefer a smaller, not a larger government in Ottawa..

Congratulations Prime Minister Harper! Myself plus my whole family has been pulling for you all along and we hope to see you remain in office for many more days to come. You have finally made me proud of our country Canada again. I was feeling like we had become a third world country full of corruption and lies ,but you have restored my faith in this country. Your strong stewrdship and steady hand are what we have needed for many, many years. Please stay the course and get rid of the HRCs so I may start contributing to the Conservative party again. All my contributions are now going to help those who have to fight this corrupt organization everyday.

Great column by Paul Wells on the real Dion. He sure isn't the guy that he was portrayed to be. Harper was right - the guy is NOT a leader.

http://www.macleans.ca/columnists/article.jsp?i...
