Liberal Bonnie Crombie perpetuates stereotype of crime in Scarborough

From insidetorontovotes.ca

The stereotype of Scarborough as a crime-ridden area is been perpetuated by a federal Liberal candidate running in Mississauga.

In a recent interview on CPAC (Cable Public Affairs Channel), Mississauga-Steetsville Liberal candidate Bonnie Crombie made a disparaging comment about Scarborough when asked about crime and violence in her city.

“Of course there have been isolated incidents … Most people go to sleep at night rest assured they live in the safest city in Canada,” she said.

When asked about the impression that Mississauga is a crime-ridden area by the interviewer, who cited a recent shooting as an example, Crombie went on to answer that there are “isolated incidents” and reiterated Mississauga is the safest community in Canada.

“I think you’re confusing us with Scarborough,” she said and then laughed.

Crombie later apologized for her remark.

I don't know the comparative stats, but my local Conservative candidate (Chuck Konkel) says that there have been 17 shootings in this riding this year (that was as of two weekends ago — there's been more gun-play since then. That's just ONE Scarborough riding and this riding includes the Guildwood area and other affluent enclaves — so it isn't all Ontario housing by any means.
Seventeen is a lot by any standard. The apology should be from successive soft, Liberal governments that have allowed gun-toting gangstas to pass unfettered through that revolving door justice system. Unfortunately, the woman was right. Scarborough is what it is — but it needn't be.

I think it is about time the gloves came off. The Liberals are throwing mud like crazy hoping something will stick. Payback time! I think the timing would be about right to remind voters that there is still $40 Million of stolen taxpayers dollars missing from Adscam, also Dion should be asked if he knows which 12 PQ ridings received bags of stolen cash! (This would make a good ad for tv) I am sure you have a contact in the war room…please pass this on.

This little joke says it all:
I was talking to the little girl of one of my friends and she said that she wanted to be Prime Minister one day. Both her parents, NDP supporters, were standing there so I asked her; 'if you were Prime Minister, what is the first thing you would do'?

'I'd give houses to all of the homeless people', she replied.

'A worthy goal, indeed. You don't have to wait until you're Prime Minister to do that. Come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard. I'll give you $50 which you can take to the corner where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to put toward a house'.

She thought about it and then said 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come to your house, do the work, and earn the $50, himself'?

'And I said: Welcome to the Conservative Party'.

Her parents are still not talking to me.
