I would add,

releasing the Conservative platform after all other parties have, hasn't allowed the opposition to adjust their platforms accordingly. The Liberals are trying by says that the Green Shift would be delayed because economic times, but it's supposed to be revenue neutral, so it shouldn't matter right?

With one week to go, by releasing a prudish platform, shows restrain and economic stewardship on the part of the Conservative Party.

It's funny you mention this, as James is still going around claiming that Dion has every right to copy Corell word for word because Canada is part of the organization that wrote the report and of course he does mention the organization at the end of the speech.

Just when you think this election , given the choices, would be a no-contest for Harper, the most prepared to deal with the economic gloom and doom all around us, we have twits in the media on the Liberal bandwagon. It appears they're prepared to send the country into a state of turmoil by supporting a party which itself is bankrupted and divided into camps in leadership turmoil. The media is prepared to reward the Liberals for questionable actions and Adscam, which is still not cleared up and millions of our dollars gone to the wind. Why? What is the main benefit to the media?
Is it something as simple as a meal and booze ticket, the easy scoops? What is it they're prepared to help take the country into economic disaster for?

The problem is either "plagiarism" is a problem or it is not a problem. There are not two standards unless you are willing to admit that it is nothing more than personal partisanship that decides the standards and no objectivity.

As to the comments that Harper's policies are the same as what led to the current financial crisis, the facts are simple. What has led to the current financial crisis is that people have borrowed more than they can afford and lending institutions have happily gone along with it as they have been able to pass off the bad debt to larger bundles of securities which were purchased by investors. If people were responsible for their own actions, then they would not have overextended themselves but too many have bought into the idea that credit is the same thing as money. Unfortunately over the last 15 years governments of all stripes have pushed the idea that people should continue to "spend" whether they can afford to or not and whether people actually have the ability to pay for their debts or not. Due to the fact that too many people (not only in the US but worldwide) have overextended their ability to pay investors are refusing to purchase any debt as currently most feel that too many people cannot pay. Simply put, if you owe 110% of your assests, YOU are part of what caused the system to fail.

As for the comments that support for Harper is not based on "reasons" as the platform was only released today, again that is false logic. All that was released today was a final bundling of all the announcements that have preceeded this. If you look at the platform, you will have heard it all before as they are the same things he has been talking about for the last few weeks. If you are overly surprised by anything contained within the document then you have not been paying attention to the conservative campaign which is not a surprise if you are a partisan from a different party. If you feel that it is not the same as Harper also made annoucements about Arts funding then you obviously must feel that the Liberals are doing the same thing as Dion came out with calling a "discussion" on the economy during the debates which was not outlined in his platform.

Quite frankly most of the arguments by partisans of all stripes are silly and immature. You do not believe the same as the conservatives, fine no problem the beauty of living in a democracy is that we do not all have to agree. But what frustrates me and many others to no end is when partisans blindly and willfully spin to justify hypocritical positions.

Nothing personal against you James but your comments do show that the partisan streak is alive and well and partisanship on any side leads to the same foolishness.
